Say Goodbye to Serial Recruiting: The Leadership Model that will Attract and Keep Top Talent

Use CINC's proven strategies for maintaining your real estate team by embracing a winning leadership model to avoid losing your star employees to competitors
Ready to take your real estate business to the next level?

In some of our previous blog posts we’ve discussed at length the challenges associated with recruiting and finding the right people to hire at the right time. This is especially true for small companies forced to compete with larger businesses, and larger budgets, for top talent. But what if you’ve already successfully recruited and hired an all star real estate team? Have you thought about what comes next?

Finding top talent is one thing, but leading and developing people to stay invested in you and your business is another challenge entirely. How do you keep your star employees from jumping ship to one of your competitors? Earlier this year at Inman Connect NY 2017, Mark McManus, VP of Client Services & Marketing at Commissions Inc., shared his leadership model for attracting and keeping top talent. Read on to discover a few of Mark’s recommended strategies for keeping and growing your star real estate team.

    Communicate the vision

Great leadership has more to do with a person’s behavior than with his/her innate personality - that is to say that any manager of others has the capacity to be a great leader, if they are willing to adopt a specific set of skills and behaviors.

Ask yourself… do you currently have a leadership model? If so, have you clearly articulated it to your team? Top talent needs and deserves to see how your company’s vision aligns to their own personal vision, in order to stay continually invested in the growth of your firm. This can be accomplished via a people-first leadership model such as the DAC model.

    The DAC Leadership Model

The D.A.C leadership model focuses on three very important business outcomes: Direction, Alignment, and Commitment

direction.pngDirection is collective agreement on what the group is trying to achieve together, and is achieved when everyone agrees on what success of the firm looks like. Ensure every member of your team is bought into the overall direction of the company and your vision.

alignment.pngTeam alignment occurs when you have successfully coordinated and integrated all of the different aspects of the work so that everyone is clear on each others’ roles and responsibilities, and that it all fits together cohesively. Establish a well-coordinated flow of work within the group to ensure that everyone is aligned and doing the right things in the right order at the right time.

commitment.pngCommitment is when individuals begin making the success of the company a personal priority. When your team members start going the extra mile in order for the group to succeed, you’ll know you’ve achieved a healthy culture of mutual responsibility and commitment from your team.

The underlying goal of the DAC leadership model involves making a notable shift from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset, taking your people and your business from where you are now to where you want to be in the future.

Designed by FreepikWhen it comes to effective leadership, Doug Conant, Former CEO of Campbell Soup Company may have said it best,

To win in the marketplace, you must first win in the workplace”.

Implement the above strategies and you’ll find yourself boasting a highly successful leadership model with tactical ways to begin making the shift to a culture of people-first. Once this is accomplished, you’ll be reaping the benefits of having a committed high-performing team long-term.

Did you know...? Elite leadership goes beyond mere team management to help retain, motivate & inspire your staff - ultimately growing your bottom line!
